LRO Found Loads of Semi Fresh Volcanoes on the Moon!

They are 500 Metres or Less across so not Visible from earth!

from www.Spaceweather.com

Look up at the Moon. The surface of Earth's satellite never seems to change. Indeed, planetary scientists have long thought that lunar volcanism came to an abrupt end about a billion

years ago, and little has changed since.

On Oct. 12th, NASA announced evidence to the contrary. A camera onboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has found signs of eruptions that

occurred no more than 100 million years ago:

Great image BP, pity they didn't supply the co-ordinates so we can explore the area.

Here's the paper (http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/ngeo2252.html) (paywalled). Some of the images look very familiar from our notched cavities thread.

Thanks Jules - I found a list of references in the article you mentioned which has a list of co-ordinates so we can do some searching - see Evidence for basaltic volcanism on the Moon within the past 100 million years (http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/vaop/ncurrent/extref/ngeo2252-s1.pdf)

There are lots more in the table (http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/v7/n11/extref/ngeo2252-s1.pdf) - it's a time consuming process!
