Monday 15th July 2013 - Memorial for Fallen Astronauts

ZookeeperChris recently tweeted about a “sculpture on the Moon” and I followed the link he provided and found this:

[NASA] “Memorial for Fallen Astronauts”

This commemorative plaque was left at the Hadley-Apennine Apollo 15 landing site by David Scott and James Irwin. It commemorates 14 NASA astronauts and USSR cosmonauts.
The man-like object lying below the plaque represents the figure of a fallen astronaut/cosmonaut.

I think that places like these will be left alone, or at least viewed from afar if the tourist industry ever takes off. (Ha)
