Soviet landers

(1/2) > >>

Infinity:
Interesting link which gives some info on the Soviet landers and some LRO images of them, good examples of what we should be looking out for.

Thomas J:
Great image, the shadow really gives a sense of the landers shape.

Amazing to see this.

Geoff:
Here's a LRO picture of a Soviet reflector left on the moon by the Lunokhod 1 rover:

Thomas J:
My goodness, that would be a difficult one to spot. It does, however, stand out from the rest of the image, even though it's just a small white rectagle.

I shall be looking for small white rectangles from now on.   ;D

Hofi:
It looks as if these landers qould be quite easy to detect...

Does anyone of you know how many landers/rocket fractions/etc. lie on the moon. I have heard that they weight about 100Mio. tonns, but I'm not sure whether this number is correct.
