As the current tutorial doesn't cover elongate pits yet I suppose we can assume it doesn't matter for beta. At first I thought it did look odd then having looked at it again I wonder if it just appears elongated because of the angle we are looking at it as I can persuade myself that some of the other craters are similarly elongated. :-\

Looks ALMOST like a closely-packed DOUBLE crater to me.

Is this a crater chain?

On the left-hand side, third of the way down, there is a line of fresh, white craters.

I think that just might be a crater chain.  They appear to be the SAME age, are linearly alligned, and are evenly spaced.

My guess is around 440 metres across. What a beautiful crater.

Note the large boulder at the lower lip of the crater that is sliding down into the crater?

Is it just reflection that causes the crater's border shining so white or is that a different material form the normal regolith?

I think it could be different underlying material as the inner rim looks white even on the shadowed side of the crater.

I would have to agree with Jules. Look at how abrupt the boundary between the light and not-so-light material is, as you move down the crater wall - amazing! Also, look at the two smaller (and fresher) craters to the right of this one. They also seem to have excavated brighter material. I think you can see it both on the crater walls and in the ejecta for these small guys. Really cool.

I would guess that the bright material is a thin layer of ejecta from the highlands, sandwiched between two basalt layers...
