Fresh white crater?

(1/1)

Geoff:
Another question  :)

In this image, is the crater on the far right a "fresh white crater" - one of the "interesting features" we are asked to mark?

Hopefully these will be covered in the final tutorial but I'd certainly mark that as one Geoff. Aristarchus is (I think) thought to be the youngest crater on the Moon so I use it as a reference. http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/pr2005029l

Thornius:
Is Aristarchus the crater formed by a collision observed by European Monks in the Middle Ages?

kjoy:
yes - I would say that is a bright fresh crater although doesn't have rays. It does have boulders so dont forget to flag craters like this as blocky before you submit you image. These fresh crater classifications should be much more obvious when the full tutorial with example images is posted soon!

Thank you Kjoy!  ;D
