Spacecraft or Space Debris
« on: March 11, 2010, 10:14:39 pm »
Discuss your questions about spacecraft or space debris here. You should also check the Lunar Lander Coordinates thread for a list of lunar landers and their coordinates.

The following index shows the lunar landers which have been found by Moon Zoo users and is in alphabetical order of Lander Name. The first user to post a specific lander is flagged with an “*”.

If you notice an error or omission in the index please send a PM to one of the moderators.

I did flag it as one.

It looks rather interesting whatever it is.  Hopefully we will find out in time!

And another candidate - with tracks.

Trying to find a way to identify these - I'm sure all the spacecraft will have been found by the experts as they have all the coordinates but I'd like to know what we find!

EDIT - moved to the boulder tracks thread! Not spacecraft after all....

If you add an image to your favourites you can see if it's close to any of the Apollo landing sites when you look at the My Moon Zoo picture. All the Apollo sites are flagged.

I know ( I like that feature!) but there are also bits of Russian Luna and American Surveyor landers there - some of which landed and some of which crashed. I have pictures of all the Apollo landers found on LRO images and they're none of the above.  :-\
I'll keep searching....
I like a good mystery! ;)

Was there a way of working out the scale of the images we are looking at? For finding bits of spacecraft it would be especially useful.

It would be nice if we had a scale bar at the bottom of each image to give an idea of how large objects are.

Not as yet. I think we are being presented with several different scales...and yes it would be useful.

I've marked the following image as containing a possible spacecraft (a long shot!)

http://moonzoo.s3.amazonaws.com/v8/slices/000020532.jpg

A third of the way in from the left side.

There's also some buried treasure nearby as you can see by "X marking the spot"  ;D

Hi All - BunnyBB Here!! anyone remember me?????

Jules - the image looks to me as two boulders - left hand boulder rolled 'up' image, hitting right hand boulder (hence setting it rolling) whilst continuing to left...

Hi Bunny, I remember you, I think you lived near to Alice when she lived in Devon.

I also think that these are boulder tracks.  There's another one below the curved track.
