Yeah, that got me thinking, surely the boulders can just fall apart via heating and cooling?

In the Southwest corner of Pythagoras , on the lower tier of the inside slope you'll find 2 examples I thought to be interesting .

In example 1. The two halves appear to be a good match for a whole , given the concave feature of the top boulder . With more degradation it may resemble a larger than normal rubble pile .

In example 2. It appears the boulder shed 2 smaller pieces , that after more degradation could also appear to be a larger that normal rubble pile .
 2.


In both examples it appears that the fractured pieces fell off and rolled ( 1/4 the circumference in example 1 ) and a bit more in example 2 .

I also note that both tracks here , have fewer impacts than our primary example .

Since "Walking boulder" is already taken maybe we could call these (Creeping boulders) , as they creep along as larger pieces degrade into smaller pieces over time

I found some nice boulder tracks on the peak of Aristillus, but can't pinpoint the boulder(s) that caused it.

I'm running MacOS X 10.7.3 on my Mac Pro and MacBook. Up to date with all other software, latest Safari, etc.

ACT-REACT works fine on the MacBook but not on the Mac Pro! I prefer using the Mac Pro as the display is much better than the MacBook.

I'm still trying to find out what is causing the problem. Apple discussions has nothing relevant.

Anyway, off to the pub for lunch  ;D
