Moon landing rill visit.

(1/3) > >>

Dynamo Duck:
I was always fascinated my anything space related by anything space related right from watching the first rockets taking off from Cape Kennedy even before I started school. In fact I was still a pre teen when the last man walked on the moon in 1972. One of the things I remember from watching the astronauts walking on the moon and driving around in the moon buggy was one team that did a trip to a rill. Does anyone know which moon landing this was, and are there any photo's from the LRO available for us to see exactly where this mission extended to?

Cheers. Ewan.

You are probably thinking of Apollo 15 and Hadley Rille. There's an LRO article here. And there are some amazing views on the following NACs (Narrow Angle Camera images.)

M104504818RC
M106862700LC

And here's an ACT_REACT Quick view link. Click on Overlays on the left and choose "Moon features" and "LROC featured images" to see the landing site in relation to the rille.

And here's the landing site.

Be warned - you could spend hours just browsing around there!

And as my good friend placidstorm pointed out you might just need to zoom out or move north east on that ACT link as it centres on a portion of the rille to the south west of the landing site.

Thanks placid!! :P :D

placidstorm:
I boo booed first ;D the same way ;D  they are rille similar spots  ;)

placidstorm:
