Craters with raised centers

Why do some craters have a raised center like this?

Hi 31572 and welcome to the forum! :)

You only find central mountains in larger craters and they are formed by material rebounding during the cratering process. There's more information here. The central peak in Tycho is one of my all time favourite LRO photos. Have a closer look!
