Boulder wars - damaged images
« on: May 24, 2012, 11:36:40 am »
I just saw a shooting star yesterday, so I thought I can make a wish  ;)

I just played a while and came across quite a few obviously damaged images. The were not poor quality, just pixel-rubbish. If we had a button to mark these images somehow, they'd be weeded out sooner or later.

Hi jilalf and welcome to Moon Zoo!

If you find any more damaged images could you please report them to us so we can look into it and fix any possible problems.

You can do the following to get the information that we require:

When you see a damaged image, finish your classification for the pair of images and then select "My Moon Zoo" at the top of the page. This will display the "My Moon Zoo" page which will have two columns at the bottom labelled "Favourites" and "Recents".
Click on the top link under the "Recents" heading. This will be one of the two images you have just looked at in Boulder Wars. If it isn't the damaged image then close it and click on the second link.
Once you've found the damaged image, click on the "view more information" link which will open a new window showing further information about the image.
Copy the information on the right-hand side of the window and paste it into a post on the forum - it should look something like the following:

Information

ID: AMZ40037k9
Latitude: 16.0722°
Longitude: 46.5359°
Sun Angle: -76.23°
Scale: 0.50 meters / pixel
Zoom Level: 3

Anyway, enjoy your time on the Moon  :)

Not sure if a damaged image or just a dark area..

Latitude: -88.5687°
Longitude: 142.127°
Sun Angle: -79.28°

Do you still need these to be posted? (I notice another thread with blank images has now been locked)

Hi Staceva,
We have stopped collecting these images now. There are some changes planned for Moon Zoo in the next few weeks including a batch of new images which (hopefully) will have these "blanks" removed (or fewer of them will sneak through.)

Hi, I'm new and have been getting a few of these lately. When I find them in Boulder Wars, I am not sure how to report them, as my right click doesn't give me the option to copy/paste. (on Firefox)
Should they still be reported, and how?

We don't need to report these at the moment - hopefully the problem will be resolved with the new batch of images coming to Moon Zoo.
If you get any more of these, treat them as if they have no boulders.
